Born in Harlem, NY in the late 30’s, as Henry Brown, Pucho started playing music at the young age of 15. Nicknamed by a close friend, Pucho and His Latin Soul Brothers became a pivotal figure in the Latin “Boogaloo” music movement. They signed with Prestige in 1966 and soon found success. Pucho’s musical talent flourished, releasing his first album, Jungle Fire, in 1969. Since then, this New York-based band has released 8 albums. In the 1970’s, the Latin Soul Brothers were disbanded and a new trio was formed in order to focus on a more traditional Latin sound.
After spending 19 years with the trio, performing in the Borscht Belt, Pucho caught the interest of the British Acid Jazz scene. This new atmosphere made him want to return to his roots, and he created a nineties version of the Latin Soul Brothers, including many of the original members. Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers are now coming back to a place they called home, the Catskills, and performing at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
