Since recording her first album, The Honesty Room, in 1993, Dar Williams has become a well known name in the folk music world. A native of Mt. Kisco, New York, Williams moved to Boston in 1990 to explore her music career. She established herself in the Northeast coffee house scene, and later found herself opening for Joan Baez. Since the start of her career Dar has released twelve albums, and formed the group Cry Cry Cry with Richard Shindell & Lucy Kaplansky to pay homage to their favorite folk artists. Dar is a frequent performer at folk festivals and has toured with many artists including Sean Colvin, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Ani DiFranco. In 2008, she released her latest album Promised Land and an EP, It’s Alright. She is considered to be one of the highest acclaimed folk singer/songwriters of the recent folk movement.
