The Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Keith Lockhart, is a portion of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in which the goal is to play concerts of a lighter sound than your normal classical music. The Boston Pops have a rich history of conductors including Arthur Fielder, John Williams, who is well known for composing some of the most widely known musical scores for motion pictures, Star Wars, and Keith Lockhart. Keith Lockhart took the reigns in 1995 and has added his own flamboyance and flair to their performances. Lockhart enjoys bringing  some of today’s pop-music artists to perform with the orchestra and is being accompanied by Idina Menzel for this performance.

At the young age of 38, Idina Menzel has already been the starring role of two of the most known Broadway Musicals of the past two decades. She played the originating role of Maureen in Rent and Elphaba in Wicked. She has won Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and for Best Leading Actress in a Musical.
