Big Blue Tarp’s What to Look Forward to at Bethel in 2012

It is that time of year where Big Blue Tarp is at its busiest.  We have been gathering tons of information, including all of the rumors of who might be touring in 2012, and more importantly, who will be performing at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.  So far, three shows have been announced for Bethel Wood’s Pavilion Stage; Country pop artists Lady Antebellum, and our annual return of the Doo Wop Show, and the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.  In 2011, Bethel had 22 performances take place on the Pavilion Stage, and with only three having been announced at the end of January, that leaves A LOT to come. So what do we have to look forward to in the remaining announcements? Glad you asked; here is a quick run-down of what we believe will happen in 2012.

The 2012 Pavilion Stage season will open the same way as it did in 2011, with three nights of Phish! Phish sold out all three nights, and in the world of the Phish “Phans”, those performances are being considered some of the best shows since Phish’s return in 2009. We do not see Phish having any issue selling out three more nights in Bethel.

Next, is the possibility of a concert on June 2.  This date was originally booked for Lady Antebellum but has since been pushed to June 13th. We know that “Lady A” has already filled in their June 2nd date, which makes it seem like the change in concert date, was because of a scheduling conflict on Lady Antebellum’s part, and not because Bethel is bringing in a bigger act.  We expect the long awaited return of Dave Matthews Band in 2012, after the band took most of 2011 off from touring. The date that is being rumored from the DMB community is June 28, 2012.

As far back as November 1, 2011, the rumor has been floating around that Sullivan County native, Seth Rausch, would be performing at Bethel as the drummer of country act Little Big Town.  Little Big Town is rumored to be going on tour in support of Rascal Flatts. Rascal Flatts is currently in the process of releasing dates in a very slow manner.

During the 2012 season, you should also expect the annual performance of the Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra.  Speaking of Bethel Woods veterans, we also believe that you will get to see the return of Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band.

For other artists heading out on the road in 2012, you have Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, The Eagles, O.A.R., Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney and The Beach Boys performing with Brian Wilson for the first time in 20 years.
Speaking of Rumors…. How about Fleetwood Mac?

With all of these great artists performing this summer, be sure to keep checking back with Big Blue Tarp for exclusive 2012 season announcements!
